Eloise Mumford Instagram – my great-grandfather carried this locket with him through WWI. inside are photos of his wife and baby son. that baby would grow up to serve in WWII, and would miss the birth of his son- my dad- because he was at serving at sea on that day. and a generation later, my dad in turn would serve during the Vietnam War. generations of sacrifice and holding tokens of home close, of prayers and missing and bravery. there are so many families who have known this same story, and so many who are living it right now. lives irrevocably changed by service and sacrifice. i hold you close to my heart today and every day: those who have served, and those who have loved them through it, sacrifice rippling out and out. thank you for all you have given. | Posted on 12/Nov/2022 02:16:53
