She asked if I had any advice for actors who might use some emotional support. I said: Know it, know that you have done the work. You have done the work and just keep doing the work. And know there’s no one else like you. The thing that you have to offer is totally unique to you, and that’s a gift; the gift you have to bring to the craft. So emotionally, all the things that hurt, that make you vulnerable—that’s what you have to bring. It’s normal to question and feel like it’s not going to happen. There are times when you think you won’t work again. You have to be able to separate those two things; the side of you that’s vulnerable and also honor it and nurture it and love it.
