As soon as the North Tower was hit, Rescorla began evacuating the South Tower, which was against Port Authority orders.⁣

He ended up saving all but 6 of the company’s 2,687 employees. Rescorla himself died when the tower collapsed.⁣
⁣
His best friend Dan Hill says that Susan (Rescorla’s wife) will understand someday, as he does.⁣

I knew him as a hundred and eighty pound, six-foot-one piece of human machinery that would not quit, that did not know defeat, that would not back off one inch.
