Stoker was a Trinidadian-American actor known for his starring roles as Lt. Ethan Bishop in John Carpenter’s Howard Hawks-inspired 1976 film, Assault on Precinct 13 and Beneath the Planet of the Apes. Blessings to his family.
His wife, Robin Stoker made the announcement of his passing on October 7, 2022, which was his 92nd Birthday (October 7, 1930 – October 7, 2022).
Austin Stoker starred in John Carpenter’s 1976 action-crime-thriller, “Assault on Precinct 13,” a movie about a deadly street gang in Los Angeles. Stoker made his TV debut in 1969, on an episode of the hit crime drama “The Mod Squad.” In 1973, Stoker had a main part in the sci-fi classic “Battle for the Planet of the Apes,” the fifth and final chapter in the “Planet of the Apes” series. Stoker played Macdonald, a human assistant to one of the Apes. Also in 1975, Stoker played the love interest of Pam Grier in the Blaxploitation film “Sheba, Baby.” Other film appearances included “Airport ’75” with Charlton Heston, Karen Black, George Kennedy, Gloria Swanson, Linda Blair, directed by Jack Smight, “Abby”, “Time Walker”, “The Zebra Killer”, “Combat Cops”, “Uninvited”, “Horror High”, “A Girl To Kill For”, “Hour Of Valor”, “Mach II”, and “Two Shades Of Blue”, in 2010, the horror film “Machete Joe and his last film 2019’s Rob Zombie’s sequel to “The Devil’s Rejects”, “3 From Hell .”
On television, Stoker made multi-episode appearances on such classics as the action series “The Six Million Dollar Man,” the drama spinoff “Lou Grant,” the epic series “Roots,” medical drama “Trapper John, M.D.,” the soap “Falcon Crest”, “Victory At Entebbe”, “Airwolf”, Murder She Wrote” and numerous others.
In the theatre, Austin had a run of successes, “Split Second” (Capt. Parker) which earned Austin the DramaLogue Critics’ Award for Outstanding Achievement in Theatre.
