Johnson IV Instagram – Thank you for you support this #GIVINGTUESDAY in 2022 at 4Kira4Moms we…. ⭐️Launched a health equity implicit bias training program with support from Virginia Commonwealth University to train the next generation of health workers. ⭐️Provided 10 Doula Training scholarships to Mama Glow, a leading doula training institute. ⭐️Collaborated with The Bump to create the Black Maternal Health Hub, spreading awareness about Black mothers in the face of big healthcare. ⭐️Partnered with Huggies to begin deploying diapers, and with your help, other essential care items to families who have experienced maternal loss. ⭐️Made a commitment to provide down payment assistance for a single father receiving a fully furnished home through Warrick Dunn Charities. ⭐️Expanded our advocacy footprint, locking arms with the March of Dimes to offer two advocacy training workshops in 2023. ⭐️Helped pass key legislation in California – the California Momnibus that addresses racial disparities in maternal and infant health and a medical malpractice bill that ushers in a new era of stability around malpractice liability. We also helped pass key legislation in Georgia – a bill that expanded post-partum Medicaid coverage from 6 months to 12 months and legislation that focuses on maternal mental health in the Mental Health Parity Act. ⭐️We will continue to advocate federally for the Black Maternal Health ‘Momnibus’, with a special emphasis on the Kira Johnson Act, in honor of our foundation’s namesake, Kira.
