Just me and the little ones up to our ranch, then barely making it out to the @steinbeckcenter to meet with Tori about their Steinbeck Young Writer’s Program then into Monterrey to the @monterreybayaquarium and to scurry through Ed Ricketts old place (best friend d of Steinbeck). Missed Big Sur and calling out to the cows from the back of the truck as we do because of the rains. Next time. Now back in the green ship reminiscing on what it is to be a dad, what is important and what is blanching meaningless at a rate I almost can’t keep up with. Watched “Baraka” the other night and it reminded me of all the rat racing we do, the frenetic anthill ranting, but for what. I watch my kids thrive in the cold, and under the chaos of rain. They held their ground and laughed and cried through the bitter winds. We barely made it out out of the ranch and with it, glory. ❤️❤️❤️
