@senatorshaheen and I had a very productive meeting today with Angelina Jolie regarding the plight of Afghan women and religious minorities. Our nation and the international community need to work together to avoid a humanitarian disaster in Afghanistan. We will be working with our colleagues and Administration officials to develop a coordinated U.S. response, hopefully in conjunction with the international community, to help the Afghan people through this winter and beyond. We appreciate all the work Ms. Jolie has done and her dedication to help the long-suffering Afghan people.

Honored to be able to attend Jimmy McCain’s graduation from OCS at Fort Benning. Jimmy’s an extraordinary young man and along with his classmates is the newest Second Lieutenant of the U.S. Army. I’m very proud of Jimmy and his beautiful family. I know his old man is beaming. Also, great to spend time with Cindy and witness this graduation ceremony. It makes me realize that America and the U.S. Army are in good hands. A very impressive class!
