in an industry where Latinos are criminally underrepresented, Gina has been and continues to be a shining example of resilience, talent and consistency.
it was such a privilege to be surrounded by Latino talent pre, during and after the award show—on and off camera. as i finished a couple interviews and moved off to an empty area, my thoughts settled and found their quiet place. it wasn’t long until a sentiment snuck up on me. it felt like I had been here before; a sentiment not so far into the distance, a feeling that might resemble home. i couldn’t help but wonder: is this how it feels to be surrounded by people that look and feel like you?
