A little shout out to my ride or die @iamscottwolf.
We know our blessings run deep AND moving this many times has been really freaking hard. (watching the kids navigate is the hardest part, by a million miles, it guts me)
Some days, I wanted to scream and cry and hide in the closet.
Okay, I did that.
And some days, like this day, I am blown away at how we have done what we have done.
Something most people may not know, is we don’t have “people”. You know how tv people have “people”?
Well, we don’t.
We do this on our own.
No helpers on a payroll.
Friends and family have crossed mountains to get us across this bridge. I swear they are my hero’s. I would want to punch me at this point. The part no one can know, is the many bananas reasons these moves have occurred. It’s truly insane.
Rental being sold while we were renting. Companies being bought while we were working for them and that changed the visa requirements to live in a foreign country. Housing markets turning into a blood sport.
Blah, blah, blah.
Just a lot of extraneous circumstances and none of which require your sympathy, they just are.
Scotts brothers and my dad came for this last move because this one was the back breaker.
Moving countries. New town. New schools. I still need the map to find my way to school every morning.
I have had dark moments of regret and anger and then I settle into the reality of “you can’t know what you can’t know until you know”.
That crystal ball line makes me want to puke.
Let me tell you something, No one has a crystal ball and all we can do is the best we can when we know the playing field.
The rest will come down to love and our choice to let it lead.
I may head back to the closet to cry later but for this moment I will sit in the wonder of how we do what we do. Us humans.
We are amazing. When we think we hit the skids, we get up again.
Especially these kids.
I felt their bodies shake as they walked into the third new school of the last two years.
Looking back and saying, “I’ve got this.”
If you are going through a hard thing, I want you to know, YOU HAVE GOT THIS.
