Today, you should have received an email from @sagaftra with the subject line, “Take Action: Support the LAW Act.”
Currently, productions can prevent actors from accepting work on other productions during a series hiatus. When shows all had 24 episode seasons, this meant a handful of months. No biggie.
However, as season episode counts have shrunk and the months of forced unemployment have grown, actors are still being held to these antiquated limitations. This makes it harder and harder for the average actor to survive between seasons, even if “starring on a hit show.”
Scroll to the bottom of the email and click on the blue bold “HERE” link. This will allow you to quickly and easily send pre-written emails to your local congresspeople, telling them you support the LAW Act and that actors should have the freedom to work as much as we possibly can in an already challenging industry.
