Hi.
I can’t and don’t expect you to feel the same sadness, rage and helplessness us Iranians feel at the moment.
But the biggest fight of resistance for equal rights is happening right now, at this moment, in Iran. A revolt led by WOMEN sparked by the killing of a 22 year old girl, Mahsa Amini, for “improperly” covering her HAIR. Yes, HAIR. She was taken by force to a “morality guidance center”, and two hours later, she was dead.
People are risking their lives by taking their rage to the streets, women are taking off their mandatory hejab, cutting their hair as symbol of defiance, and the men are fighting right alongside them.
In an attempt to maintain control, the riot police and vigilantes are beating and killing these protestors! Young, old, they don’t care. But on they go.
Now, the regime is blocking internet access to prevent them from sharing videos and updates from the protests. It’s a very scary feeling to not be able to reach your family and friends.
If you believe in freedom, in equality, in feminism and in justice, raise your voice.
