Harry Shum Jr. Instagram – Grateful to be part of this one. Our resilient film about the people who are often times overlooked in our society – the aging immigrant mom, dad, grandparent all working out their hopes and dreams and in one flashing moment – can be crushed into a distant memory. It’s been rather difficult to separate this post with the recent tragic events and the victory of these nominations for a community that has been fighting so hard to be seen and heard in this country. Stumbling between celebrating and sadness breeds confused feelings. But one thing I do know is that kindness breeds love – which is what we need a dollop of at this moment. Choosing to use kindness as a weapon. I love the message of our film while facing the adversarial unknown to “Please, be kind.” I celebrate these 11 @theacademy nominations along with our cast and crew who worked so damn hard to make this a reality. I celebrate all the Evelyns, Waymonds and Gung Gungs out there that continue to inspire us day in and day out. This one’s for y’all. @a24 @everythingeverywheremovie
