I recently had the middling fortune to stop by the Weinerschnitzel in Mojave, California. The highlight of my visit was not the veggie hotdog but this poster hanging on the wall. It brought up so many questions – the first of which being “WHY?” Why and how was this photo shoot greenlit?! How did the pitch to corporate go? “What we need are Gen Zers walking alongside our mascot in scenic nature!”
And Why does the hotdog have that facial expression? Is it sheer terror or just irritable bowel syndrome? Why so many ripped jeans? And is that girl carrying a yoga mat? How did the casting call on this work? “Seeking hotdog-lovin’ hipsters to walk alongside a giant scared wiener in a park-like setting. Long hair a plus. Must own ripped jeans.” Thoughts? (By the way, I learned this about the mascot from Wiki: “The Delicious One or the World’s Most Wanted Wiener, which has been the slogan, is the mascot of Wienerschnitzel – an anthropomorphic chili dog. Almost everybody wants to eat him due to being a hot dog & the Delicious One’s famous trademark is when he runs off screaming)”
