Luke Gulbranson Instagram – My grandpa was my friend. He was the wisdom when I needed guidance. My escape from people and life when I needed a break. We’d have a diet dew and talk about things that made me forget about everything other than being in that moment with him. A navy man, he proudly served our country 🇺🇸 . My life saver, as he saved my life when I was a a child. A story teller that captivated my young imagination. From the size of flying fish out at sea that would end up on deck to the size of the racks on the bucks in the middle of big swamp. He was a lover who loved his family deeply. I would watch from afar and see the love he had for my grandma and how he cared for her over the years. I never said much about it but I admired his commitment to her and his boys. A hard worker who worked with his hands. Blue collar mechanic and construction worker. When no one else could be there for me he always was. Whether it be a ride to an airport for a flight or spotting me a few bucks for something I needed. Most often splitting wood to earn that money. A strong man with big hands he let you know he was there when you shook his hand. Suspenders or overalls on cardboard under the car or under the hood he could get it running when no one else could. Although he would tell me if it’s running and you hear something just turn up the radio 😂 His Witt made women blush and men laugh. He spoiled me with ice cream and junk food when I was a kid. My love for good music is because of him. Marty Robbins, Johnny Cash, Jim Reeves to name a few. John Wayne and Clint Eastwood were on the tv the most. Oh! And I can’t forget Gun Smoke. Good guys catching the bad guys. Hero’s I suppose. But in my world he was my hero. He did what hero’s do. A huge part of my life was spent with him at the lake, at his house. I would not be the man I am today if it wasn’t for my Grandpa. He will have an everlasting impact on my life and I will miss him until the day we meet again.
