Orlando Bloom Instagram – How does a parent find the words to comfort a child during a war? What can you say to make them feel safe, as hostilities continue unabated? What do you do to protect them? Last year, I visited Moldova and met with children and families who fled the brutal war in Ukraine. I spoke with mothers – and the fear and uncertainty they were feeling were so palpable. I spoke with children, many of who didn’t understand what a war is, and why they had to leave everything behind – their homes, their schools, their friends and even their loved ones. As families crossed the border, they were desperately looking for some respite, and a safe place for their children. @unicef teams were ready to provide them with lifesaving assistance, including psychosocial support. The war in Ukraine has robbed children of many things – birthdays, education, time spent with family and friends – but we cannot let it steal their futures. That’s why @unicef will continue to stay and deliver for the children of Ukraine, and to call for an end to the war.
