Simon Pegg Instagram – However you feel about this woman’s job, she did it tirelessly for 70 years and that is undeniably impressive. When I got to meet her at the royal gala premiere of the third Narnia movie back in 2010, she took an age to start speaking to me. She looked at me, smiling for a long time and I thought I had broken her, until she eventually asked me what character I played in the film. Later, sat three seats away from her, at the Odeon, Leicester Square, I became one of the few people to ever witness the queen of England wearing 3D glasses. At the end of the film, when my character Reepicheep makes his metaphorical journey to the east (dies), I looked over and witnessed her wipe a tear from her eye. I felt oddly proud. I try not to make the deaths of others all about me, a frequent and queasy habit on social media but this is the woman from the stamps and the coins and every bank note I ever spent, so I’m making an exception. Here we are back in 2010, shaking hands. RIP Elizabeth II, you’ve earned it. | Posted on 09/Sep/2022 11:45:13
