Theo Germaine Instagram – Happy International Women’s Day to all, but especially to my dear mama. Mom, I’m grateful you are in my life. I love you. I respect you and I am grateful for all the things I learned from you when I was a kid that helped me survive into adulthood. I am grateful for the way you understand that I am my own gender, that doesn’t negate yours at all, and I feel seen by you, and I see you. I respect your struggle and your labor. I love your sense of humor, and the fact that we both love stop animation movies, The Price is Right, and Alanis Morrisette. I love that we both love mustard, vampires, Grandma Helen’s caramel popcorn, admiring shiny rocks, French bulldogs, and clapping and rubbing our hands together when we’re excited. I am grateful you are so silly. I am grateful that I hear you in my voice when I speak sometimes. I am grateful that we were brought together to connect in this universe, no matter the circumstances that brought us together. I also respect your survival through the ways you’ve experienced harm. And I like you. You are a worthy and beautiful person who I want to give gifts back to because of the gifts you’ve given me. Earnestly, I love you. These are my favorite pictures of us. Just before this photo was taken, you were smelling fresh rosemary in my friend’s garden where we took the photos, in awe of the fresh scent. Not everybody would be drawn to a rosemary bush like that. I love your wonder and I love that moment. I miss you and I can’t wait to see you again!
