Sharks help to protect coral reefs, reduce the spread of diseases among marine species, and contribute to the flow of the carbon cycle. Yet their existence is being threatened daily due to high demand for their fins and meat and a poorly regulated market, causing global shark populations to have suffered a 70% decline over the last 50 years. But there is still hope. We are excited to introduce our new SeaLegacy Ocean Ambassador, actor, environmentalist, and shark advocate @egupta. She joins our co-founders and partners in calling on countries to support Panama’s Proposal 37 at @cites this November. The adoption of Proposal 37 would help regulate a huge part of the global trade in shark fins and products for the first time in history and would represent a momentous step forward in shark conservation efforts.
