Freida Pinto Instagram – Every year around this time I feel so much nostalgia about this little engine that could called Slumdog Millionaire. It was such a glorious celebration of the underdog. The misfit that came kicking and screaming into the world and touched so many hearts and minds. It’s been 14 years and our little baby that almost went straight to DVD ( fact!) still brings up the same kind of unadulterated joy and hope to me and many around me. I sometimes still have moments of disbelief but the older I get I’ve learned to own the little achievements because it was against all odds and it was no mean feat. Believe it..this happened! And you deserve it! I also want to remember Irrfan Khan who isn’t with us anymore as well as Satish Kaushik passed away a few days ago. Two legends from the Indian film industry. Hope you are reunited in the afterlife and having your own party. Also do not miss Dev hoisting the then little Rubina Ali to take in that enormous moment. We could feel the support from every corner of that room. It’s been an absolute marvelous journey of peaks and valleys since then but will save that for another time. Congratulations to all the nominees this year and to all the great work of art in cinema that may not have been nominated. You told your story your way and that in itself is an incredible feat.
