He gave me permission to say this because we wanted people to know how healing it is to talk about openly. His testimony is evidence of what Dr. Jill Harkavy-Friedman from The American Foundation of Suicide Prevention has found from suicide prevention research, that openly asking someone if they’re experiencing suicidal thoughts and hearing about other’s experiences reduces suicidal ideation. Today is #WorldMentalHealthDay and the team of the song “Stay” is grateful and honored to donate a portion of the proceeds from the song to American Foundation of Suicide Prevention @afspnational to help fund research. I’m not quite sure how to express the overwhelming love I received this week. I love you guys, THANK YOU to everyone who reached out and commented and supported 💕🙏🏼 I received so many messages from people this week opening up about their own history of suicidal ideation, some didn’t even tell their own family members because they didn’t want to be a burden and because of shame. People who are experiencing suicidal ideation are not “crazy” or “attention seeking” or “overreacting.” We can openly talk about it to reduce the shame, listen and understand why someone feels the way they do, fund research, and share resources. A portion of the proceeds from Stay will continue to be donated to @afspnational 💙 The lyric, “It was never your fault, you did nothing wrong,” is dedicated to survivors of suicide loss and the song is for anyone whose lives have been affected by suicide or suicidal ideation. I’m eternally grateful to the amazing crew of people who came aboard for this video and were committed to supporting the work of The American Foundation of Suicide Prevention. Thank you @justicerooks for your vision and directing us into the light. For being with me from the beginning of this and for your unwavering support and commitment, I love you. Not only is @echokells one of my favorite actors, but him and his amazing creative partner, @nate.caywood, are mindblowing cinematographers (you have to check out all their Echo and Nate productions!) I was beyond grateful for their brilliance in this video and their dedication to the mission of AFSP. And @torretakespictures is the best producer a gal can ask for. Thank you Torre for working tirelessly and going above and beyond for this to be assembled and shot for #suicidepreventionmonth and pouring your heart into this and being the most supportive friend along the way. Thank you, God. 💙💙💙💙 #fbf when @iambkennedy and @mscinelu played the final mix and mastered version of Stay. I’m sooooo excited to share more of what we’re working on 🙏🏼🔥🕊🥳❣️🎉🎹 🎶 🎵🎺 🎼 🎥: @next_levelmm 💗 #fbf 🤍 video shoot for Stay with DP extraordinaires @echokells & @nate.caywood 📸: @torretakespictures 🤍 🥹 sweet Ben at @catalinajazzclub ❤️😭 @benvereen When I made Stay, my intentions were to bring comfort to anyone in pain who the song resonates with, to help raise funds & awareness for #suicideprevention (donating to @afspnational) & to use the song as a creative outlet to be an educational tool in raising awareness about #CPTSD, the lyrics touching on dissociative symptoms and flashbacks. The whole heart of the song is tools I learned in therapy, non-judgement & compassion for every part of myself. In my stories is a suicide prevention article where “Dr Harkavy-Friedman [from The American Foundation of Suicide Prevention] shared the four words that she lives by in her life & practice, and these apply especially to people who are thinking about suicide: compassion, respect, patience, & persistence.” The tools I learned in therapy called on me to relate to CPTSD with Compassion, Patience, Truthtelling, Sensitivity, & Dedication. The last thing I wanted or needed was for someone to wave a bunny in my face, invalidate my pain, & tell me to quickly cheer up, but I did need comfort & hope & I did need someone to see a better version of me that I couldn’t see at that time. So I wanted to make a song that sang to someone lyrics of validation & comfort, that you might be experiencing a freeze symptom of trauma or a dissociative response where you don’t feel you’re in your body, but to Stay anyway. The song is about staying with our own feelings or lack of feeling in the midst of debilitating, confusing, painful & isolating symptoms, but it’s also about staying with eachother, with non judgment & compassion & listening with compassion to learn why someone feels the way they do. Stay was about integrating my mental, emotional, & spiritual health into a creative outlet and to make something beautiful out of something that once felt and seemed irreparable. I now know that God made me on purpose and promised me there’s nothing that is broken beyond repair. There’s a lot that I don’t know, but what I do know is that if you don’t know why you’re here, stick around to find out why. I do know that you are ON PURPOSE. I promise you are here on purpose and that you belong here. Call or text 988 for 24/7 support I gave TMI and I apologize in advance that we most likely ruined one of your favorite songs. I loved getting to be on an episode talking about music, mental health & more!! 💿🎶 Just because something isn’t “trending” anymore doesn’t mean it isn’t a problem and that your Jewish friends and the Jewish people are not affected. Speak up and have active conversations with people in your communities offline as well. • Repost from @teachandtransform • In my antiracism workshops and talks, I often end by reminding folks that condemning racism isn’t the same thing as showing love to people of color. The same thing applies here. Beyond condemning antisemitism, we also need love and care for the Jewish community. When antisemitism stops trending online, what will your day to day allyship and advocacy look like? . Edit: This also applies to who non-Jewish folks deem as worthy and palatable. Will you still be condemning antisemitism the next time a visibly Orthodox Jew is assaulted in public? Thank you @larry_flick for including Stay in this week’s #newmusicmoves 🎶💙 Larry recently did a segment on the connection between music and mental health (link in stories 💕) and it’s awesome so many songs here are supportive of mental health. I love this song “Breathe” playing by @gracedaviesofficial. A portion of proceeds from Stay being donated to @afspnational which recently announced their plan to reduce the suicide rate 20% by 2025. Read about their plan in stories 💙 Youu guys!!! My buddy Josh Alexander (@maybeayacash’s hubs!!) directed an epic film that is out TODAY!!! Please see and support this meaningful and important film that gives a nuanced portrayal of not only @real_sharpton’s life, but of racial violence and police brutality cases from the 1980s that are unfortunately relevant today, with there still being no meaningful federal legislation passed to address justice in policing and voting rights. I’m obsessed with the soundtrack and song playing on this reel is written and performed by @joyoladokun for the film! Proud of Josh and the incredible team (shout out to legend @brendaagilbert! 💗) who have been putting so much love and dedication to this profound doc for years! Please see and support this incredible important film!!! 🔥🎥 Trailer and link to find/purchase tix in your city in my stories! 🥳 #loudmouththefilm #loudmouth TagsKether Donohue Previous articleActor Kim Woo-bin HD Photos and Wallpapers March 2023Next articleActress Vijayalakshmi HD Photos and Wallpapers March 2023
