Mädchen Amick Instagram – A huge thank you to @lanaebrody and her team at @people for going above and beyond to tell our story with compassion and the collective intention to help others 🙏🏼
I can’t tell you how proud I am of our son @slyalexis_ who has truly turned his diagnosis into his superpower 💪🏼 His dedication to reach back and help others find their own unique path to recovery is awe inspiring. He has always shared that “being of service” gives his life purpose. We can all learn so much from his journey, and when we are brave enough to share ours, true healing begins.
I waited until the print version of this story came out to post, because I take the responsibility seriously when sharing our journey (which parts can be shocking) to tell it in its entirety. Unfortunately when these kinds of stories are truncated (which had to be done for the online version), they can easily become “clickbait” material. My family and I (along with our team @dontmindme) are dedicated to erase the stigma surrounding mental health, not feed into it.
@lanaebrody (working closely with @alainabendi) spent hours interviewing us and weeks putting this 4 page exclusive together. When roadblocks popped up, she persevered to make sure the intention of the story was honored 💚
