Sheila Vand Instagram – Some people say that there were as many as 100,000 protesters who participated, yet this 12-minute documentary is the only existing film of the March 1979 Women’s protests in Iran. 🤨
That’s how quickly and aggressively Khomeini’s Regime began censoring and silencing the truth. From Day 1, the Islamic Regime has been lying and they haven’t stopped since.
This short film was made by the militant French feminist group, Psychoanalysis and Politics, in collaboration with Iranian women. For me, it is a great testament to the importance of solidarity amongst women’s liberation movements around the world – especially when it comes to reporting on (and FOR) people who are trapped in a severely authoritarian country against their will. Were it not for the support of these fellow women/humans who had their freedom of speech, we would have none of this important historical record. (If only @npr ‘s peanut butter lady had a shred of the integrity 🙄)
People in Iran still don’t have the option to speak for themselves without paying with their lives. That’s why we have to keep speaking up for them.
This Regime is full of smoke and mirrors, and it should be exposed for exactly what it is and always has been: a brutal, incompetent dictatorship disguised as a “theocratic democracy” (as tho that’s even a thing lol)
I’m gonna post some shorter excerpts of this film later, because I know everyone has a short attention span. But again, it’s rare footage and only 12 mins long so I recommend the whole thing.
