So much fun at the #vanityfair party. Last year I didn’t make it there until 2am and all I remember was wolfing down and an In-N-Out burger and accidentally leaving my Oscar in a flower bed. This year was much more civilized. My favorite moment was running into @daniebb3 – how far we have both come since season one of Orange is the New Black – I love this woman. I am heartbroken to learn of the passing of my friend and disability rights activist Judy Heumann. I have been working with Judy for two years to write a movie about her life and in that time she has welcomed me in to every intimate nook and cranny of her story. Her openness allowed me to know her in a way I was so grateful for and it makes her death incredibly hard. I was in awe of her as a ferocious leader and a person whose humor and curiosity drew you immediately into her circle. Judy is often called the mother of the disability rights movement and her brave leadership of the 504 protest and her work to pass the ADA quite literally changed the world. She had the kind of energy that truly made you feel like she would live forever which makes this especially difficult. My love to all of her friends and family and everyone who was lucky enough to be in her orbit. Sharing the last video she sent me – which is adorable and Judy showing me her “finger dancing” skills.

Absolutely epic trip to the Galápagos Islands guided by @naturalhabitatadventures. I’m totally floored by these islands and the intense conservation effort on the part of Ecuador to protect them and the animals that live there. Grateful to our guides @karlamalomar and @vmarurim! I feel so lucky to have been able to take this trip. And my IG might now be forever devoted to sea lions and blue footed boobies…
