Tanushree Dutta Instagram – This is the famed Manikarnika Ghat in Kaashi by the river Ganga adjoining Kaashi Vishwanath temple. I just wanted to see the ghats & the boats this afternoon and was walking around casually but somehow ended up at this funeral place. Most surreal experience of my life… They say that here the pyres burn 24 hours, 365 days a year and have been for thousands of years since the time of Sati Mata. I just stood there transfixed at the scene in front of me… Later dipped my feet in the Ganga & put few drops in my mouth too. Honored my traditional Hindu roots & I think closed the chapter of my ancestral/ prarabdha karma. I don’t know why it came to my mind to do this act & what it means for a living person but I obeyed. Then I went to a nearby shaktipeeth and sat in deep peacefull meditation. This Kaashi trip was very different & unusual experience for me as opposed to Ujjain. #mahadev
