You can possess the wits, the smarts,
Know lots of words and how to rhyme,
And be well read, put in the time,
Yet, never manage to create
A chain of words, that flow so great,
When joy is true and pain is real,
They show exactly how you feel…
A masterpiece can be achieved,
If subject’s really felt and lived!
If you bring truth into the light
And find the guts and will to write
About the things, that took a toll.
Instead of running from it all,
You take a stand and put to rest
The haunting triggers of your past.
It takes some courage to embrace
The things, that you’re afraid to face…
To tell the truth – it can be hard…
But freedom shall be your reward…
