We got to meet Big John, who is probably one of the largest horses in the world, literally. Teeny tiny Bison, who is definitely one of the smallest. And of course, dear sweet Colby, who started it all. Among many other amazing horses, minis, and mules, our time at the rescue was absolutely eye opening, educational and heartbreaking. What these young women are achieving goes above and beyond what you might think possible. I was in awe of their strength, fortitude, and absolute love and devotion to these extraordinary animals.
You see, many, if not most, of these animals were rescued from k!ll pens.
I will not go into detail regarding some of the horrific circumstances that led to these rescues, or where they were rescued from, how and why, but I can tell you this…these women are brave and relentless, powerful and have emotions of steel when necessary. The emotional toll for someone who’s life pretty much revolves around these stunning beasts is indescribable. And they told us they can only stomach the most difficult tasks about once a month because the emotional devastation is too much.
These are only a few pictures Bayley and I were able to take because we were so caught up in the magic and joy of spending a couple of hours among these gorgeous “babies”!! And of course, in the company of these extraordinary women.
