Tunisha Hubbard Instagram – Missing my Dad today. I just hung my parents’ wedding photo in a frame I made. I started making frames for art about a year ago. I still have a lot to learn but last night when I was researching power saws, wood working techniques and pocket hole jigs (I digressed lol) I was thinking, Dad there’s so much to choose from, what do I pick? And it just made me smile, because I might be working with some of the same tools he did back in the day.
My Dad was a wood shop teacher at a high school in Philly. I used to go to work with him sometimes, I remember passing the Tastykake factory and listening to Bill Withers on the way. He made me toys and gifts for my mom. I remember being in his workshop and his students visiting him, it was an all boys school and some of them were like my big brothers ☺️
I was just talking to a good friend about how we wish our dads were here to guide us. I REALLY wish my dad was here to show me how to make perfect miter cuts, Lord knows I need help lol. But being without my dad for so long has taught me one really special important thing, he loves me and he’ll never leave my side, he’s always here to guide me. I swear he shared #BillWithers with me (my favorite musician of all time) so I could learn the life lessons he would’ve taught me, so I could listen to the albums and be consoled or celebrate with my dad when I needed him most.
Even though I’m missing my dad today, it’s with peace, a smile and a warmth in my heart. I love you Daddy | Posted on 05/Nov/2022 05:44:52
