This is my favourite novel I’ve ever written. My heart is embossed on every page. I wanted to write about what it’s like to be empathetic and highly sensitive – and for those who don’t quite understand it, I chose to convey emotions & moods as colours.
This is about a woman named Alice who sees people’s moods, emotions, energies in the form of colours around their bodies. The colours have characters and personalities, sometimes they twirl, swirl, spit. Sometimes they’re metallic, sometimes they’re a mist. Every colour represents a different emotion and each shade has its own meaning. They are multi-layered just as people are and understanding them is like learning a new language.
Not only can Alice know how people are feeling by looking at them but if and when the colours touch Alice then she can feel exactly how people are feeling too.
It’s a very emotional story about Alice as she tries to navigate her own life while deeply feeling the hopes, fears, dreams, pain, passion and love of everyone around her. How can she carve out her own path when she’s easily overwhelmed by everyone else around her…
‘In A Thousand Different Ways’ is out now. They call me Cecelia Warehouse Ahern. (absolutely nobody does).
I love warehouses filled with books and I love a hi-vis jacket. Writing novels aside, these are my favourite author days. Seeing my books in bulk and knowing they are heading off to shops and homes is so rewarding.
Nobody – not one person – in any of the warehouses would let me drive their forklifts (you all know who you are) so I have vowed to get a forklift licence and will up my warehouse game next year.
