Given our years of hiding and not letting others get too close so we wouldn’t be discovered, it makes sense that the distancing we developed originally as a survival skill now sometimes works against us. This distancing can happen with different forms of intimacy and connection whether with friends, family, or loved ones. And even right when we’re in the midst of other people.
