One of my favorite photos from “behind-the-scenes” Saw 1. I can still feel the energy… DP @david.a.armstrong, the costumers, PA’s, set decorators, sound techs, SFX people… all warring with the clock. #horror #saw #actorslife
Great sailing the high-seas with @peytonlist on Aileen Wuornos’ “American Boogeywoman”. The film will arrive in theaters Sept. 20th, with a U.S. VOD/DVD release on October 8th. #aileenwuornos
Sometimes, when you’re waiting for a scene to start, you get to hang with the coolest people. In this case, the lovely, talented @fionagubelmann was behind the lens. #actorslife
Hello all! Been on the road filming, thus absent from social media lately. Finished @robinmeloygoldsby “Piano Girl Playbook: Notes on a Musical Life” on my flight home & wanted to spout my admiration! Wonderful stories… one chapter actually follows Rob & me through one of our days together in the NYC 80’s! Loved it. #livemusic #Steinway #alwaysbelieve
When Nelson Mandela was released after 27 years in prison in 1990, a volume of Shake-speare’s plays was left behind in his cell. This clip is about “the fear of death” from Julius Caesar. It had been marked by Mandela in his cell. He became President of South Africa in 1994.
Santa… it’s Tobin… I’m calling because I wasn’t able to find the gluten-free cookies, but I found the almond milk you asked for, instead of the whole milk. Hope that’s okay. Fires off. Chimney’s cool. Dog’s asleep. So c’mon in! #christmaseve
I was 17 when this photo was taken. The Everly Brother’s tune, “Let It Be Me” had just hit #7 on the Billboard charts. I’ve always appreciated their groundbreaking harmonies & their potent influence on groups to follow… The Beatles, Crosby, Stills & Nash, The Eagles. Here’s my re-imagining of that tune. Vocal harmony is by @haleighbowers #RIPDonEverly 2/1/37- 8/21/21. Listen to the full song, link in bio.
At a fun gallery event with my good friend, amazing artist Aaron Stansberry. @stansberrystudios. #art gallery #painters
… just in from a stormy night in Georgia with fellow actor @thegiancarloesposito. We spent a few intense days with producer/director @gnicotero creating the first episode of @AMC_TV Creepshow (Stephen King’s short-story, “Gray Matter”). @Shudder #horror
Received a message recently from my friend, the awesome London photographer, @jackalexanderuk. It said, “I found a roll of film in the closet a few days ago that was never developed. On it, there was this moment from our afternoon @langham_london hope you like it.” I do, Jack, thank you! #photography #london #actorslife
Had the pleasure, a while back, of joining my friend @katemansi and a cast of talented actors as part of a benefit project @homewardlosangeles. We told the stories of homeless people, using their own words, at the Skylight Theater in Los Angeles. Honored to be part of a great project that touched my heart. Thank you, Kate!
Love this shot! Cinematographer @BenNott schools me and “Jigsaw” directors #peterspierig & #michaelspierig on lighting for our next scene. #horror #saw
ON SELF-WORTH | There is a logic to how people become who they are. Often life-paths are spurred-on by inner pain… a pain we have not yet learned to deal with or understand. #selfworth #hurtpeoplehurtpeople #shakespeare
… nabbin’ a bad guy as FBI Agent Earnest Stokes in Alan Parker’s #mississippiburning. On location, outside Jackson, Miss. 1988
This is my Valentine to you all. We could all use a love song today. #valentinesday
Great to work alongside @mslinshaye and a fine group of talented young actors in the @timothywoodward film, “The Call”. Opens In theaters & drive-ins on October 2. Available on VOD & digital on Oct. 30. #indiefilm #horror
One guy I always love being with… a man with a kind heart & a good sense of fun… @realcostasmandylor #actorslife🎬 #saw
…so, first day at this sweltering location in #Sumter, S.C., the young director hands me a pair of gloves & a pick-ax… “first thing I need you to do, Tobin, is dig a ditch. Ya, I know, it’s 100 degrees & 94% humidity and there’s a swarm of gnats… it’s breedin’ season. If they get in your mouth, swallow ‘em… they’re high in protein.” #indiefilm @theoldmanandthepondfilm @imjasonmac
57 years ago today, John Kennedy was taken from us in one of the most painful moments of my lifetime. Last time I was in Dallas, I took this photo of the picket fence, atop the grassy knoll, from behind which I believe the fatal shot was fired. #RIPJFK
Winding the day down today with some dedicated folks at Hamilton High in LA. Keep the pressure on guys… you are much needed! #fridaysforfuture #unitebehindthescience
Congrats to my friend @robinmeloygoldsby on her dad Bob’s 2021 GRAMMY win for “Best Historic Album: The Best of Mr. Rogers”. Bob Rawsthorne was the percussionist in Fred’s “Neighborhood” for more than 30 years. You inspire us Bob… keep-on keepin’ on! #musicislife
We lost one of the truly great film directors today. Sir Alan Parker, an Englishman with a deep interest in American history, springboarded my film career when he hired me to play FBI Agent Ernest Stokes in his 1988 film Mississippi Burning. This photo shows Alan, on a camera truck, about to capture a moving car-shot. #RIPalanparker #mississippiburning
I posted a cover yesterday of “Sometimes I Feel Like a Motherless Child”, often called “Freedom” by my generation. Richie Havens revived the song at the Woodstock Music Festival in ’69. My release yesterday was recorded at SodaPop Studios in LA… lead guitar by the fab @jackdemeo , backing-vocals by @eldanieldavila. The track was engineered by my son, @coopthecomputer .
