Emilia Clarke Instagram – Brain injury will affect 1/3 people in their lifetime. That’s one-third of all people globally.

Not just the elderly or the catastrophically unlucky.

Even the fantastically lucky who survive major brain injuries, like the amazing @emilia_clarke – who was very young, 24, when her first aneurysm began bleeding – or (young-ish) me – I was 38 when a previously undetected AVM ruptured, ending my ability to speak, compute language, move my right side; in short my life as I knew it.

Recovery from brain injury is an exhausting, complex, complicated, multi-factorial and well-nigh 24/7 constant struggle, even for those of us who have the privilege of getting to try.

But brain injury is still not talked about. And provision of vital services and care are not prioritised, even for the young people who might be able to give back to their communities and societies in a very meaningful way in the future.

Long-term critical neuro-rehabilitation and support are – even in the most medically advanced societies like the US and UK – practically nonexistent.

That’s why @emilia_clarke founded @sameyouorg with her amazing mum Jenny. And thanks to the phenomenal generosity of an anonymous donor in New York, *for the next 24 hours only*, ANY pledge of any donation, large and small, with no limit, will be 100% matched. That is unbelievable. The match offer will finish tomorrow night, Friday 17th February.

Obviously, we would be grateful to have your donation anytime, but if you have ever thought of supporting this very worthwhile cause, it would mean the world to us if you could find it in your heart to support SameYou’s vital mission and dig deep into your pockets TODAY to maximise the power of your donation.

I hate to scaremonger/point out the obvious, but on those odds, 1/3 of all people, it’s probably not unlikely that you or someone you love will need care for brain injury at some point in the future.

Thank you for all your support. It is so appreciated. Link in bio or visit SameYou.org πŸ™πŸ§ β™₯️
