Just under 7 years ago, after our last thanksgiving, I went into your room to say our final goodbye. We hugged on your hospital bed. I told you that I loved you and I thanked you for being my brother. You told me you loved me and looked at me with apologetic eyes. We knew we would never see each other again. I still can’t wrap my head around that… that I will never see you again. I am now 4 years older than you, big Brother. I miss you terribly. ❤️

Hildy (played to true perfection by @juliemcniven) is canonically one of the “uptight” girls in the office. We’re talking high necklines, not always the brightest color palettes. But this scene where Pete tries to humiliate her in front of the other Sterling Cooper men tells us WHY. Her modest clothes (here we have a tan skirt suit with a gold brooch and hair in a tight bun but with adorable little curls at the ears) are a defense mechanism against the sexual harassment of this workplace!! This is cute with a nice fit but nothing to comment on or really notice – which is the WHOLE point so Hildy can blend in and do her job. Hildy likely got the same treatment that Peggy did when she first got there (women!! wear something to show off your ankles!!! We MUST see your legs!!!) but as Hildy demonstrates in this scene, this girl does NOT give into pressure!! Hildy is in a situation (which I personally have been in) where you are just trying to do your job and some man is like “hey you’re actually pretty! Smile! I want to think you like me!” I gotta be honest, in this situation I have often caved and just smiled 😬😬and left and been “nice.” but Hildy just STARES down Pete and also doesn’t give into the pressure of drinking at work!!
