The Liza of today has her eyes set on sharpening her tools overseas. She says she wants to be recognized as a “world-class artist and actress,” but she’s also realistic; she knows acting isn’t a forever thing for her and she sees herself switching gears sooner rather than later.
“I feel like there will come a time, especially when I hit my 30s, that I won’t want to be in front of the camera anymore. So I want to be able to learn how things work behind the scenes.”

Change, for Liza, is now synonymous with growth. As a self-proclaimed “people pleaser,” Liza resisted her own hunches for half of her life if only to accommodate the comments and criticism being thrown her way.
She knows there’s no affording immunity to responses like this, especially if changing for the better also means finally being heard. It’s just something she’ll have to live with.

Today, March 8 we are celebrating Women’s Day. it’s important to recognize and celebrate the empowered women in our lives and in our communities.
Ive been with Save the Children for almost 3 years and what I’ve learned is that in order to make change, to better the lives of children, we need to have the courage to speak up. To speak up and empower those who don’t have a voice.
As an ambassador, my role is to start conversations, push for awareness, and specifically dig deep into issues that make people uncomfortable. This is the only way meaningful change will happen.
I was born to a teenage mother, who got pregnant at age 17. She struggled with the responsibilities of motherhood and had to endure the pain and hardships of teenage motherhood. This is why I know first hand why it is so important to address this issue, both for the sake of young women and for their children. Too long have we avoided this tough conversation that is needed for change to happen.
That is why I am here today, to try and break the stigma of this issue, to start meaningful discussions, and push for lasting reform. Therefore, in order to curb adolescent pregnancy, we at Save the Children Philippines are advocating for the passage of the Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention Bill pending in the Senate and the House of Representatives that provides adolescents access to appropriate reproductive health services, gives training to teachers and parents on how to discuss sexuality education with children.
We need to talk about this issue. We need to educate the youth on this issue. We need change.
We shouldn’t be scared to discuss this, to start conversations about this. We need to stop shaming women from wanting help and guidance. Let us educate and empower them.
