„The people who worked there were a motley bunch: a philosopher, an Indian dancer, a flute player, a Buddhist. One day, during a break, I announced to the group that I wanted to get a Buchla. This was a brazen and outlandish idea to express. The new instruments we were making, the Buchla 200, were destined for institutions and not individuals. They were prohibitively expensive. At my wage of $3.00 an hour it was inconceivable that I could earn enough to buy one of these. The Buddhist said, “I want nothing. We do not need to have wants.” I said, “I want a Buchla.”
