So a couple years ago I took a REALLY DEEP BREATH and summoned all the courage I had and decided to go public with my very personal medical issues. WHY? Well because disabled people need to take up more space. We need to be more visible. We need to be SEEN.👀♿
♿️ I have a large following and I felt like I had a responsibility to use my visibility to SHOWCASE that disabled people are here. We’re smart, we’re productive, we’re beautiful, we have relationships. We are just people with extraordinary situations that we have to handle every single day. I have received some unkind messages because I am disabled.
⚠️ I have also lost some followers because I began to post photos with my mobility aids. BUT ➡️ I also get daily messages from other disabled people thanking me for doing what I’m doing. Knowing you are not alone in your struggles matters! Thanks to all of you who have stuck by me. ❤
