James Ransone Instagram – So before this place became the indelible @officialdannytrejo ‘s it was called donut time. 5 years ago I shot a movie here called tangerine with a skeleton crew of 5 people. The budget was so small they couldn’t even close it down for us to have the location outright so customers would literally come in and ruin takes. I think I made a grand total of $100 for it. It’s totally wild that today I’m involved in this juggernaut of a franchise that comes out in a couple days (and btw I never imagined that I’d work on something so beloved in pop culture). While I was sitting here I was reminded how massive of an undertaking it is to make a movie. Any movie. And while it was so much fun to get to go to work with all the other actors every day this post is a thank you to the crew. They’re the unsung heroes that entertain you. The actors have the easy job. We also get all the glory- but without the rest of the people who help put it together- from makeup to electric to hair to the carpenters to the set painters to the accountants, even the pa’s that bring jerks like me coffee, it’d be just be a bunch of people standing in a room talking about themselves. They too are away from their families working long nights in the same uncomfortable (it’s not that bad) settings as we are but they get none of the glory. SO if you’re going to see @itmovieofficial the next few weeks try to remind yourself just of how many 1000’s of hours of sweat and love were put into this thing so all of us could be entertained for a couple hours. The craftsmanship on this one in particular is incredible.
