In recent weeks, there has been a lot of controversy about drag artists who organize inclusive and small-scale reading afternoons for children and parents. During these private reading afternoons, the focus is on children and parents from all kinds of backgrounds learning to be who they are and express themselves in a safe, loving, child-friendly & cheerful way.

Have you signed the petition and do you also want to come to the counter-demonstration? Come to the Wierdsmaplein in Rotterdam this Sunday at 13:00. Dress your best and most colorful, in drag or in your favorite clothes, bring your pride flag! In this way we drown out the hatred and negativity. Ma’Ma Queen Instagram – Here I am with my brother and my sister. 💖

For as long as I can remember I wanted to wear dresses and put on some heels. I wanted to have long hair, beautiful nails, wear make up and play “dress up”. I had no clue about “Drag” until I was 19. I “started” doing drag when I was 25 and now I’m 32 and all I can say is: I have always been this way. No matter how hard or difficult, no matter the bullies, the physical trauma’s, me being misunderstood, judged, threatened and attacked. I will not ever change who I am, because I can’t. Trust me I’ve tried, on many occasions. I am proud to be me. To be exactly the human being I am today, despite everything life has thrown at me and I grew strong and smarter with every lesson life has taught me. I stayed true to myself and I will never back down. I will not comply to what society makes of me, puts on my body or tries to force onto me.

I’m thankful for those who care about me and accept me for who I am. I’m blessed with beautiful people that see me and know my worth.

When I am in drag I want to be the representation I didn’t have as a kid. I want to show people, of all ages and all walks of life, that it’s okay to be yourself and to express yourself.
As long as people and minority community’s are endangered for being themselves I will stand up against those that are responsible!
I’ll keep my back straight, my chin up, my heart full of love and compassion and my eyes on the horizon. Marching with my long legs and big feet in high f*cking heels towards a future where diversity and inclusivity are truly celebrated and where ALL OF US can be ourselves, FREELY!

♥️
