Mehmet Gürs Instagram – Friends, so many of you have asked how to help the region affected by the February earthquakes. Many of you made donations, sent aid, or went to the region to help out on the ground. There is still so much to be done, with needs changing all the time. In an effort to continue with the support, we’ve decided to focus on the power and role of food. This region’s culinary culture is rich, layered, and carries importance not just historically but also in terms of current food production. As in many other cultures, food is at the very center of life.
To protect and sustain the culinary culture of Southeastern Turkey and Northern Syria, to create both immediate support and long-term awareness, we’re organizing an international conference and fundraiser in London on June 12th. By sharing its flavours, recipes, stories with the world and by highlighting the role of food in rebuilding and connecting… Together with an extensive community of experts, scholars, chefs, and restaurants, we’ve planned a whole day filled with powerful insights and unique flavors.
The event is supported by PROTOTİP:RAKI. This way all proceeds from the event will be used to support small-scale farmers and producers of the region through Turkey Mozaik Foundation @turkeymozaik and humanitarian organizations such as Hayata Destek @hayatadestek
