Celina Jaitly Instagram – Lesbian Visibility Week 2022 Monday, 25 April and ends on Sunday, 1 May Lesbian Visibility Week is an annual observance dedicated to increasing the awareness of lesbian identities and issues. It was originally celebrated in July in 1990 in California, and more recently in April, starting with Lesbian Visibility Day on April 26. As an Actor, an LGBTQIA activist of more than two decades and as @unitednations @free.equal “Equality Champion” doing a film like SEASONS GREETINGS- A TRIBUTE TO RITUPARNO GHOSH by @ramkamalmukherjee has been an in-depth eye opener to the struggles of women of various sexual identities be it Trans or Lesbian. LGBTQI women are more misunderstood and under supported than LGBTQIA men and in countries like ours women in general are fighting too many battles as it is from the day they are born. We women don’t have it easy, (no matter what our sexual orientation or educational qualifications or economic background is ) Lesbian Visibility Week is a voice for unity and lifts up ALL women, especially those who come from marginalised communities. Recent research (Pride Matters survey, conducted by Pride In London 2018) has shown that gay women are almost twice as unlikely to be out in the workplace as gay male colleagues. Today I take the opportunity to ask you all to support LGBTQIA women you know and that’s how each small step leads to a world that will hopefully be free and equal one day.
