My nature and wildlife loving grandfather always said : “Those who don’t believe in magic will never feel it.” He was a colonel in the army and a devout nature lover. We both would go for long walks in the forests of the Kumaon hills when he would visit and amidst magical spots in the very wild Tiger laden forests, he would make me close my eyes and ask me feel the magic of nature in my heart. I couldn’t have asked for more magical moments than those as a child. Whenever I miss him I always go to my favourite spot in our alpine surroundings in Austria, close my eyes and become one again with the magic that he inculcated in my soul as a child.
