Jolene Blalock Instagram – You are all, by now, aware of the shocking and barbaric assassination of President Jovenel and the heinous attack on his wife in their home. I’m sure you have seen the footage and read the articles as the news comes in on the state of the country. We have all been witness to the unprecedented escalation of violence and unrest in the streets of Haiti, we are also aware of the escalating cases of COVID-19 hitting the country hard at this time. We know that the resources needed to elleviate great suffering are scarce in haiti and that all of this insecurity and unrest makes these resources even more scarce. These are the struggles which make up the grim background for this most recent act of cruelty upon the Moise family that brings the state of Haiti to the Global frontpage.
I wish i could say that Jovenels assasination will be the turning point for a more stabile and peaceful Haiti, it’s possible, however we also know that Haitians are in a desperate situation and desperate people do desperate things.
Over the next month we can expect food shortages, overcrowded hospitals, gas shortages, little access to medical care, further increased violence in the streets. armed robberies, kidnappings for ransom and attacks in the streets of Haiti. Haiti needs the worlds prayers and care right now. We as R3VOLVE HAITI by the Rapino Foundation have been blessed to be able to create a very rare and special community of peace and stability which each of our team members has contributed and commited themselves in it’s creation. In these dire times we urge all Haitians be safe, stay home, be alert, and cautious. If you need food, medical supplies, support, childcare, transportation, whatever the need be. Reach out to your close family and community to meet needs. Reach out to us at R3VOLVE HAItI if you need. Share what you have with others outside of your community. wether that be batteries, water, food a hug or a word of encouragement. Please do not go downtown.
