Michelle Obama Instagram – Meet Beverly — a switchboard operator at The Pierre Hotel in New York. Every day, Beverly, her colleagues, and working class people across the country go to their jobs to give their all while building a life for themselves — and often, for those they love.

It makes me think of my father, a working class man who constantly made sacrifices for our family. He taught me about hard work and the inherent value that we all bring to this world.

In Working: What We Do All Day — our latest documentary series from @HigherGroundMedia streaming now on Netflix — @BarackObama sits down with individuals across industries to understand their jobs, their connection to work, and explore what motivates them. It is a deeply moving project that speaks to how we treat each other and the dignity of purpose. I hope that you will tune in.
Michelle Obama Instagram – Let me tell you a little bit about Raven Smith, a young woman who is working to spread pride and positivity in my hometown of Chicago.

While in high school, Raven launched @StraightfromtheGO – an organization uplifting Chicago, one t-shirt at a time. Wanting to change the conversation around gun violence in Chicago, she organized a peace walk with students at her high school and local police officers. She then donated a portion of all proceeds from these shirts to support families of fallen first responders and victims of gun violence. Her fearlessness is a shining example of how we can all become changemakers in our communities.

This past weekend, she graduated from The University of Missouri in Columbia with a degree in textile apparel management. I’m just so proud of her. Good luck on the next chapter of your journey, Raven! 🎓
