Nandita Das Instagram – The Dodge Hall was packed at Columbia University on a Monday evening, with people sitting on steps and extra chairs that were added. It was a small space, so that was expected. But the overwhelmingly positive response to Zwigato and that too from a very discerning audience, was more than what I expected. The motley crowd had professors, students, film makers and aficionados, writers, scientists, doctors and more. It was delightful that friends in NY/NJ came – Mehreen Jabbar, Azra Raza, Sabrina Dhawan, Alaka Basu, Ali Mir Hussain, Aroon Shivdasani, Dev Benegal and many more. I even had Daniel Kahneman and Barbara Tversky in the audience who treated Vihaan, Azra apa and me to a lovely dinner before the screening. Debashree Mukherjee, Prof. Of South Asian and African studies, moderated the post screening discussion. Many asked question that I had never answered before. Such interactions gives me an opportunity to examine my own instincts. Why I do what I do?!
