Renée Elise Goldsberry Instagram – Lamenting the passing of #HarryBelafonte this morning, I said out loud-I wish there was a picture of the moment I first met him… I was in a restaurant with my newborn son. Mr. Belafonte walked in, saw my son, and took it upon himself to bless him. He didn’t know me, my son, or my story. He didn’t know the miracle that had finally given this child to me. But he understood his legacy. He walked through the world, in my opinion, mindful of passing it down. I imagine he saw all little black boys as miracles worthy of a hand of blessing placed upon their heads… Thank you @damian_woetzel for reaching out to me this morning with this pic. I had completely forgotten that he had come to see @HamiltonMusical when it opened at the public theater. I’m so grateful for his blessing and for his legacy. May we see the world as you did, Mr Belafonte… filled with opportunities to bless each other. Rest in peace. #rip
