Renée Elise Goldsberry Instagram – Spent the weekend on tour with my band. 2 amazing shows. Started in Galveston. 50 family members drove up from Houston to support me. Special guest appearance by my goddaughter @cortlandtrocks who stole the show. Then to Kansas City. This soundcheck of one of my originals went so well we decided to debut the song. Pulling off a weekend on the road while filming #Girls5Eva was scary. So tired from nonstop 12 hour shooting days, I didn’t have the strength… oh but GOD had it for me. Went to bed thanking HIM, my band, and all the people who came out for me… Then on my way to the airport this morning I learned that Ralph Yarl is fighting for his life in that same town. Another young black boy senselessly shot down for ringing the wrong doorbell… I am so sickened by the disregard for his life that I almost didn’t post any acknowledgement of the gift we experienced this weekend. Seeing beautiful boys that look like my son gunned down…The devastation of that is exhausting. But I know that when I’m tired and don’t have the strength, God has it. The sole mission of my show is to celebrate LOVE. And to expose hate as a lie. It will not prevail. So I’m going to celebrate what so many of us came together to do in KC. And I’m going to keep believing, fighting, and praying for justice. Live and live strong, Ralph. Wrote this song for my daughter, but I’m singing it for you today. And for your family.
