In Rumblefish it was a central theme, but in my own life as well, I realized that I am ruled by something which is unreliable, interpretable and not at all as constant as it pretends to be. And perhaps doesn’t even exist. In my childhood, I realized it goes fast when you’re enjoying things (summer vacation) and slow when you are suffering. Once waking up in the past with an unforgettable young lady, I wished to STOP TIME, and I think I did. That memory became for me the experience and focus of @megalopolisfilm , leading to realization that all Artists control time. The earliest painters STOP time (Goethe said “Architecture is frozen music”), dancers combine Time with Space; and musicians rhythmize it. So I’ve concluded and vow “I will not let TIME have dominion over my thoughts!” Frankly I don’t believe time exists, only duration, which for a while in various drafts I named my heroine, Durèe.
