Kevin Smith Instagram – For Father’s Day, I took my only begotten child @harleyquinnsmith to see @sweeneytoddbway! It wasn’t life imitating art so much as life imitating a movie I made 20 years ago, with me being #benaffleck and Harley standing in for @raquelxcastro. Sweeney has always been my favorite musical – so much so that I’ve seen the show five different times. And this production of the @realsondheim classic was my favorite, with @annaleighashford absolutely crushing it as an hysterical Mrs. Lovett and @joshgroban making a heartbreaking Benjamin Barker. After joining us for some shopping at @mooshoes_nyc and @orchardgrocer and an excellent lunch at @pskitchennyc, future son-in-law @austinzajur skipped the show so Harley and I could Daughter-and-Dad it in seats so close to the stage, I could’ve stolen a meat pie from @gatenm123. Back in the day, my Dad partly parented by sharing with me the media he loved, and I’ve always tried to follow his example by doing the same with my kid. Bringing Harley to Todd was a longtime dream of mine – so checking off this Broadway box made it a meaningful Father’s Day for this particular Mother Fucker. Harley, you’re the best daughter I could ever hope for, Kiddo.
