Mekhi Phifer Instagram – This is a true NY Harlem conversation that I had with the older “Get Money!” Kats in Harlem growing up as a youngin’! Especially in Douglas Projects, where Kats were definitely getting money at that time!! Maybe it’s a tri-state North east coast thing, but I’m sure all the other regions can relate to this!
These type convos definitely inspired me to tell Sonny to “Tuck them laces in before you start cleaning…” in Paid in Full. I came up with that ad-lib in the movie to show how important it was to us to be “Fresh!” at all times. Can’t be hitting the block with folks calling you a Pu-Putt!!
