Sam Dede Instagram – This week, December 12th, 1963. Kenya declared its independence from an oppressive colonial rule. Without doubt, Kenya’s armed agitation against British imperialism was one of the most brutal and vicious on the Continent.
In 1952, the Kikuyu commenced an armed struggle called the MAU MAU, otherwise known as the Land and People’s Liberation Army under Commander DEDAN KIMATHI (Right) Kimathi was captured and brutally executed by the British in 1957, after he was betrayed by a faction of his own fighters. Dedan Kimathi was only 36 years.
JOMO KENYATTA, (left) also known as The Burning Spear, continued the struggle, leading Kenya to independence in 1963.
