Timbuktu Instagram – 1989 my neighbor Ingrid gave me 3 feet High & Rising for Christmas. The skill, playfulness and creativity had me hooked from first listen. What they showed my 14 year old self sitting in Lund is that I too could find a home and forge my own path in hiphop. That following year they came to Lund and tore the roof off Mejeriet, and after the gig instead of signing autographs they had a huge water balloon fight with all of the fans.
De La Soul was and always have been a cornerstone in my hiphop identity. No breakbeat is too obscure, no fashion too fringe, no flow too weird, anything can be re-imagined into hiphop. From Potholes In My Lawn to Saturdays to Millie Pulled A Pistol to Breakadawn to Stakes Is High to The Bizness to Oooh to Special to Much More the list goes on and on. Trugoy aka Plug Two aka Dove aka David Jolicoeur you transitioned way too soon. You have been the soundtrack to my life. Thank you for your service. Rest in Daisies🌼
